Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!

Today is my Mom & Dad's anniversary. They have been happily married for 43 years! I am so proud of them for making it this far.

This year I decided to change things up a bit and I made them each a card. First up is my dads card. I love how the card turned out. My theme was clocks (as if you couldn't tell) because my dad loves them. The clock in the top right corner if from Tim Holtz and I had it set for the exact time I entered into his life. The sentiment is from My Creative Time (click on her button on my side bar you won't be disappointed!). I just love her stamps!! I don't think I can say that enough. It's as if she reads my mind sometimes with the sentiments she comes up with. The one I used for this card is "My Dad my best friend" (now who doesn't need that one). The gears are from Tim Holtz as well. I used brads from the same collection as the paper which by the way is from Bo Bunny called "Timepiece". I also sprayed the gear with my awesome Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst spray for some awesome shimmer. Love my Lindy's!

Okay now to my Mom's Card:

My mom loves butterflies so I made that the theme of her card. The sign die cut if from Tim Holtz too. I just love this die! The sentiment if from PaperTrey Ink. The butterflies are from a punch by Martha Stewart. I used my Stickles and Glossy Accents to give them a little shine and shimmer. The paper collection I used is from DVWV called Mariposa. The trim at the bottom is from my favorite store Hobby Lobby (and if you are reading this Hobby Lobby put one close by me!!) The cherry blossoms flowers in the corner are from iamroses.com.

Well I think that about covers it. I hope you like my post and feel free to comment or become a follower!

If Friends Were Flowers, I'd Pick You.

Can I just say...I love this card! I really mean that! Yes, I know I have said that in the past, but I really do mean it this time. I loved making this flower and by flower, I'm not talking about the one in the center. The one in the center is from Iamroses.com. I made this flower out of coffee filters. Yes, I just said coffee filters! I learned this technique from the most AMAZINGLY talented crafter Arlene. If you haven't seen her videos on Youtube you're missing out! When I say talented I mean talented. I have learned so much from her! So Click Here to see a video on how to make theses flowers.

I did not use the die she used though, I used a flower punch from Stampin Up. I colored the coffee filers with Distress Ink and Perfect Pearls. The stem is a roll of leaf trim I found on Etsy. The twin is from the Twinery and the pearls are from Michaels. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Rice Recipe

Wow the response for the rice recipe was overwhelming! Since this was her family recipe. I thought it was only fair that I ask permission before posting it on my blog. I know many of you asked me personally to email it it you, but I thought posting it here would be easier. That way if you didn't ask me personally you would still have the opportunity to get the recipe! Here we go....

3 1/2 cups of long grain white rice (this can be adjusted to the size of your family and she recommends Goya Jasmine Rice)
1/3 cup Olive Oil
Sprinkle in Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Cumin (to your taste)
Cut up fresh Cilantro (the amount and use is completely optional)
2 packets of Sazon Goya (make sure it has Gehiote in it for color)
3 cups of stock from whatever type of meat you want to use example chicken, pork tenderloin (my fav) etc. Also use the meat in the rice to for flavor (the amount and use is optional)
1 can including stock of Green Pigeon Peas
3 tablespoons of Recaito

Cook on high until it reaches a boil then turn it to medium and cook for about 15min until rice is done and the stock used is gone.

Now, if you are like me a lot of the ingredients can seem a bit overwhelming since I don't make a lot of Spanish dishes, but you should be able to find most of the ingredients in the Spanish section at your local grocery store.

I hope the recipe is easy to understand please let me know if you have any questions! Oh, and let me know if you have tried the recipe too! Good Luck!!

Thanks for the Lesson

This card is for a dear friend of mine who gave me a cooking lesson this week. She showed me how to make her famous (yummy in the tummy) rice dish. We had so much fun together!

So with this card I used the From the Kitchen Circut Cartridge. I cut the cute stove at 3 and the pot, which happens to look like the same pot we used at 1 1/4. The sentiment I printed on the computer. The pattern paper is from Stampin Up as well as the blue cardstock. The base of the card is white cardstock from Papertrey Ink. The white trim at the top is from Hobby Lobby and the pink ribbon is from the Dollar Tree. The yellow flower is from Recollection purchased at Michael's. I used my I-Rock for the knobs on the stove and the center of the flower with the sentiment. I hope you enjoyed my post!

Thank You

For today's post, I am sharing a Thank You card I made for some friends. The two most exciting things about this card are my "I am roses flowers" and Lindy's Stamp Gang spray.

So, lets start at the beginning. I cut the base with Paper Trey Ink cardstock in Fine Linen. I then layered the card with patten papers by DCWV. I used a stamp from Stamping Up and colored it up with my Stampin Up markers. The ribbon is from the Dollar Tree. I used a memo pin from Tim Holtz and the sentiment is from My Creative Time (see her button to the right of this post). The flowers are from iamroses.com, if you haven't already purchased from them you are missing out. The quality of these flowers are so close to Prima I would swear they were Prima's. The flower believe it or not where white, but I used my Lindy's to color them up. Oh, the shimmer (swoon) I LOVE my Lindy's!

That's about it. I hope you enjoyed my post. See you next time!

So Grateful For You

Did you think I disappeared? I hope not! I'm still here and I have a new card to share. I had a very busy April followed by me loosing my MoJo. I know you crafters know what I am talking about when you feel off your game. I did make a card for a friend and it just wasn't my best. I did take a picture and I may post it, but it just didn't feel like my best work. Which brings me to this card....

Oh yea with this card I feel like I got my MoJo back! I REALLY like this card. Can you tell? I made it using my the Cricut Cart Kate's ABC. For my Cricut peeps you must run don't walk to Joann's and purchase this cart. It needs to be in every one's collection so many cute cuts you can use for almost anything. Did you notice the sentiment? Don't you love it? It is from Mrs. Emma's awesome stamp collection. I think the set is called So grateful for you. Don't hold me to that just go Google My Creative Time and you will find it. She is so talented and I feel honored that she follows my blog! I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. I will be the first to admit I need to work on my embossing skills, but for a newbie I think I did an okay job. What do you think? I decided not to cut the flowers, but to use Prima's instead. I think it turned out really cute and made it look more 3D. I used pearls for the center that I purchased at Michael's. The background stamp also came from Michael's and I used Creamy Brown chalk ink to stamp it. I think it matches Kraft cardstock perfectly.

Thank you so much for stopping by my little blog it means the world to me!

7 Gypsy Artist Printers Tray "All About Me"

So have you wondered where I have been? I have been sick and working on this! I finally finished it tonight. This project I must say took a lot of my time, but it was worth it. I have been scrapbooking for a while now an can you believe this is the first project I have made all about me. I spend most of my time working on cards for friends and family as well as scrapbook pages for my nephews. So with that taking up most of my time I forget to make something just for me. I really love how this turned out! This is truly all about me! So lets start with the first box and work our way down shall we....

The first box has my daisies! Now, you all should know by now I love daisies considering my blog is (Purple Daisy Crafts) speaking of blog do you guys like my new design, tell me what you think. Okay back to the box I used daisies that I purchased at Michael's and it says "Daisies are my favorite flower". The color theme also had to be purple...well you know why ;o).

The second box has shoes because just like any other woman I love shoes! It says "You can deal with anything if you have the right shoes." So true am I right!

The third box says "Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." and "Be yourself, no one can ever tell you you're doing it wrong."

The fourth box has my PANDA's now if you know me well you know I love panda's!

The fifth box represents my love of clothing and everything girly.

The sixth and seventh boxes has a scripture quoted at Proverbs 31:30. It is a scripture I live by daily.

The eighth box has a purse because I am known as the "bag lady" because every thing I own has a bag or case to hold it in. Oh and it says "You can never have too many!"

The ninth box says "Expect the Unexpected." and "I have found that if you love life it will love you back!"

The tenth box has a flower I cut from the Mother Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge.

The eleventh box says "Someday you'll know just how you came to be. What branch you fell upon in our family tree. You'll look at the pictures and point your finger at family members who used to be. Their legacy will live on in you. Someday you will see my sweet nephews."

And last, but not least a picture of me and my two nephews (their faces have been covered for their protection).

So that about covers it oh, the banner across the bottom says Christel.
